A 50:50 joint venture between Malaysia's national company Petronas and Shell Malaysia Exploration, CS Mutiara
has made a sizeable gas discovery in its Block PM 301 offshore peninsular Malaysia.
The Bunga Kamelia-1 well, spudded on Nov 5, 2003, penetrated two gas zones with an estimated recoverable gas reserves of
200-bil cu ft, subject to further technical evaluation, CS Mutiara said Friday. The well, 30 km each of the Bergading gas
field in Block PM 302, was drilled to a total depth of 2,070 meters, it said.
CS Mutiara said it had no immediate plan to appraise the Bunga Kamelia gas field as it is currently working towards its
2004 drilling campaign. The company, formed in July 2001, operates blocks PM 301 and PM 302. Bunga Kamelia was the
company's third exploration well.
