Queen's Award for Enterprise for IHC Engineering BusinessIHC Engineering Business (EB) of Riding Mill in Northumberland is delighted to have received the news that a Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category is to be conferred on their business on 21 April (Her Majesty's birthday).

"We are extremely proud to receive the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category. This is an award not just for the company but for every member of our innovative team," says Dr Tony Trapp, EB's Managing Director. "EB is passionate about engineering and the innovative solutions we design for our clients in the offshore oil and gas, submarine telecom, marine defence and offshore renewable energy industries. Equally I am a passionate believer in the strength of the creative and talented team at EB; and - looking just slightly further afield - in the strength and resourcefulness of the North East supply chain that we make use of whenever possible."

IHC Engineering Business has an order book of £55 million for innovative and large pieces of equipment to be delivered to the offshore oil and gas industry alone over the course of the next two years. It is also busy with a number of offshore renewables projects; and there are other challenges already in the pipeline. They have been actively recruiting and now have 185 people working at the company, predominantly graduate professional engineers. "We have certainly come a long way since EB was founded by four of us, all engineers, twelve years ago in April 1997," says Tony Trapp.

EB operates from three Tyneside sites, their headquarters at Broomhaugh House in Riding Mill, Northumberland; Stocksfield Hall, an office for 75 people just two miles away from their HQ; and their Tyneside construction site where they lease 65,000ft2 of workshop with large cranes, large doors and direct access to the Tyne for the shipping of large items.
