Technip outlines operational responses to oil price decreases

 PARIS – Technip has begun a restructuring plan and has accelerated its cost reduction in response to the decrease in oil prices.

UK Pledges Oil and Gas Stimulus Package

The UK Budget 2015 delivered on Wednesday contains assistance to support the local offshore oil and gas sector.

In its Autumn 2014 Statement, the government confirmed that it would introduce an immediate two percent reduction in the rate of the Supplementary Charge, a tax on profits from oil and gas production in the UK and UK Continental Shelf. The reduction from 32 percent to 30 percent came into effect from January 1, 2015. As a result of the 2015 Budget, this will now be further reduced to 20 percent.

Neptune Marine has hired Scott Freeland as GM (UK)

  Neptune Marine has hired Scott Freeland as GM for ROV and Survey based in Aberdeen.

Freeland was most recently with Rovop and was one of co-founders of that operation.

Brazil: Diamond Offshore Ops Manager Killed By Gunmen

 The Offshore operations manager for Diamond Offshore Drilling International has been shot dead in an attempted carjacking in Brazil.

 
Peter Campsie, 48, was killed by two gunmen in Rio de Janeiro as he returned home to his family after a business meeting last Wednesday. He was shot twice as he attempted to flee to his vehicle.
 
Campsie, from Montrose, Angus, UK, had worked in Brazil for 16 years and lived in the city of Macae, north of Rio, with his wife and 10-year old daughter. He is survived by two sons and his mother, brother, and sister in Scotland.

No Foreign Staff Back To In Amenas Until Security Issues Resolved, Says Oil Gian

 Staff have begun returning to Algeria following a terrorist siege last year – but a leading oil operators has warned it will not send expatriate workers to the site of the attack until security is improved.

 

Forty workers, including three British workers, were killed during a four-day siege at the In Amenas gas plant in Algeria last January.

BP's Full Year 2013 Results

  BP has announced underlying profit of $13.4 billion for 2013. Chief Executive Bob Dudley described the year as one of “strong operating performance, with increased asset reliability and major project delivery”

BP Completes Commissioning of Whiting Refinery Units

Commissioning of new, state-of-the-art coker marks final major milestone in refinery upgrading project designed to create $1 billion per annum of additional future operating cash flow.

 

BP announced all of the major new units associated with the Whiting modernization project have been successfully brought on stream.  The start-up of the new 102,000 barrel per day coker in mid-November marked the last major milestone of the multi-year, multi-billion dollar modernisation project at the facility in Northwest Indiana.

Subsea 7 Appoints Managing Director for the New Office in Tromsø

 Subsea 7 is pleased to announce that Yngve Vassmyr will be the Managing Director of our new office in Tromsø. He assumes his position on January 1st 2014. 

 

 

Yngve Vassmyr comes with long experience in the oil and gas sector, in senior industry roles, and in building up organisations in the North of Norway. He worked for Statoil from 1985-2005, including as a Vice President for Global Exploration with responsibility for Norway and Western Europe and also as Operations Director for Snøhvit LNG facility during the preparation of the facilities and organisation for LNG production startup. More recently he was the CEO of Tromsø based Front Exploration, acquired by Dong Energy in 2012.
