Pelagic Research Services (PRS) Redesigns its ROV System, Odysseus

Pelagic Research Services (PRS) recently completed an extensive redesign of its 6000-meter ROV System Odysseus, which included in-water commissioning and verification of all ROV systems, including endurance and full power tests. Odysseus is now available to support projects on a global basis. Completed by MPH Engineering, the new system is designed to serve the offshore industry as well as ocean research and exploration communities around the world.


HullWiper ROV Expands to Valencia Port

The Spanish port of Valencia could be set to break Algeciras’ virtual vessel maintenance services monopoly in the country, thanks to the availability of the eco-friendly HullWiper hull cleaner, according to the Managing Director of the company behind the diver-free system.


Subsea well intervention cutter ROV-operable

 Webtool has developed a resettable emergency disconnect cutter for light and medium subsea well intervention.

This can be used either as part of a workover system or as a dedicated emergency disconnect package, and can be reset subsea by an ROV, avoiding the need to return the cutter to the surface vessel for this operation.

GAC’s HullWiper Coming to Port of Rotterdam

GAC EnvironHull’s hull cleaning system, HullWiper, will be available for vessels berthing in the Port of Rotterdam next month.

HullWiper, which will be demonstrated at the Port of Rotterdam on June 23, is a diver-free remotely operated vehicle (ROV) that eliminates the need for divers to clean the vessel.


Collaboration on swimming robots for subsea maintenance

Statoil CTO Elisabeth Birkeland Kvalheim (left) and Eelume CEO Kristin Y. Pettersen. Kongsberg Maritime Statoil signed an agreement with Eelume, a NTNU spin-off company, to accelerate new technology that will significantly reduce costs related to subsea inspection, maintenance and repair operations. NTNU and Sintef have conducted research on snake robotics for more than 10 years.



 Press Release: Subsea Vision has added a forth Saab Seaeye Cougar XT to its fleet.

The 2000 metre-rated Cougar is to assist in unexploded ordnance (UXO) disposal.

The ROV is used to locate and identify UXOs, which can include excavating the seabed to see the objects more clearly. The Cougar then lays a charge alongside the UXO, ready for remote detonation from the surface Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officer.
