ACC.gifA new £7-million agreement for the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre might be worth £100 million to U.K. North East and the ancient Scottish city.

The future in Aberdeen of the oil and gas industry show, Offshore Europe, was secured by a signing between the centre’s owners and organizers Spearhead Offshore Europe Ltd.

The Aberdeen meeting place will host the offshore industry’s signature event until 2019. First held in 1973, the event annually attracts upwards of 30,000 visitors from around the world. Sept. 6 to 9, 2005, marks the next OE trade event.

“Almost 9,000 registered trade visitors, 2,750 exhibitors and an estimated 490 contractors from outside Aberdeen visited the city from the beginning of build-up to the end of the show,” a statement said of the show’s regional and industrial clout.

The Offshore Europe Partnership is a joint venture of Spearhead Exhibitions Ltd and the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
