Sonardyne International Ltd, Yateley, UK, will be presenting its latest range of USBL (Ultra-Short BaseLine) positioning products at next months (March 27th-29th) Ocean Business exhibition in Southampton (Stand No.90). The new line-up offers a layered approach to system selection from simple through to complex and now enables customers to easily identify the USBL product that best suits their underwater tracking and positioning needs.
The family of USBL systems; Scout, Ranger and Fusion, will be demonstrated at Ocean Business alongside the first public appearance of Lodestar. The launch of this exciting new product is expected to attract considerable attention from the industry and represents a major departure from Sonardyne's traditional acoustic navigation, positioning and communication products.
Sonardyne's range of USBL products starts with Scout, Scout Plus and Scout Pro. Scout and Scout Plus are entry level systems that can track one surface vessel and up to six subsea targets at a range of up to 500 metres. Scout Pro is designed to provide more complex survey support through its fully featured software. It provides greater accuracy, additional tracking capabilities and a 1,000 metre operating range. All three versions of Scout are quick to set-up and deploy whilst offering high accuracy and affordability.
The Ranger and Ranger Pro USBL systems build upon Scout's capabilities and have been designed for survey and DP (dynamic positioning) reference operations. The user interface is simple and intuitive and in Pro version, offers simultaneous tracking of up to 10 targets and ranges to over 4,000 metres. It offers a one second position update rate and also supports the recently developed technique of Inverted USBL (iUSBL) operations.
Fusion is the most advanced USBL tool available from Sonardyne and is ideal for long-range deep-water tracking and DP with survey grade accuracy. Because it uses the same vessel-based hardware as Ranger it can provide users with an easy and cost effective upgrade path. Fusion uses Sonardyne's latest Wideband technology and offers the highest possible accuracy for complex subsea operations in all water depths.
