We demobbed a system off the Normand Master 2 weeks ago and it was off to do a rig move west of Shetland on a day rate of 1,900,000 NOK, apparently a record for an anchor handler in the N. Sea. (This is the first chance I’ve had to post the info as I had to fly straight down to Aus for another job) Are vessels in such short supply that the oil companies will pay silly money for them?

    eff,

And yet here it is at the end of the year and we’re really not getting silly rates offshore (yet)…. 🙄

Talking to the master of the barge I am on Superior Performer, he told me that present day rate is $65,000 but they are moving it to new client next month for $105,000 day rate + consumables /materials.

Some asian companies are going to have an unhappy new year digesting that sort of increase .

Incidentally , my Supervisor is a Malaysian and is on less money than me because he is an ASIAN thats not right !.he is a decent bloke and skilled . But he would not dream of striking so and neither would any of the other guys I have spoken to .

    Liddle,

Consider what some semi-subs get PER MINUTE during completions. Say… somewhere in the area of $400 – 600!!!!!!!!!! 😯
