    I am looking for pilots with a bit of experience for a position in drilling/ rig support.

    Location: Black Sea off the coast of Turkey
    Duration: 28 on and 28 off for a period of 6 months – 1 year

    in some situations yes and in other situations no. I am looking for a good pilot who can interface with the rig managers, keep up with the maintence and logs, etc. If a candidate is able to bring to the table a complete package and fill the spot I have open then pay isn’t really the issue for me. If a candidate is starting off and is looking for a chance to break in then I can still work with him. We have a year long contract on the rig and we are putting in platforms all over Turkey.

    Pay is an issue to the right people. No point in people being interested if you were going to be offering well below money.

    Your job sounds like you require someone of Supervisor experience, and not a Pilot as you have asked for. Pilots do not normally interface with rig managers – thats the Supervisors role.

    And in that case the pay is closer to £400 not £300. A year is a long time in the ROV game these days, and I predict rates will be well on the up this year – supply and demand.

    For info to anyone else, BSJproject is not a very well known name in ROV world, they do not even have a website linked to that name and appear to be based in Turkey.

    What I need is a "go to guy". I am not interested in talking about money because it is pretty obvious what the rate is and that if I want good people I have to either train them and give them incentive to stay or I need to pay up front for someone who can work semi-independently immediately.

    Good news is that I have received several responses from very qualified individuals and I appreciate everyone’s fast responses to my requests.

    BSJ project does not have a website, but we were on the front cover of offshore magazine this last month.

    "very qualified" does not necessarily mean they are a "go to guy" as many companies have found to their cost. CVs are amazing things and when it comes to the list of jobs people have worked on, attendance at them does not mean they were any good at it 🙂

    You mean offshore mag as in
    http://www.offshore-mag-com, no sign of your company on their website, current issue has a jackup in tow. Do you own jackups? Google didn’t find much unless you are the Bureau of Standards Jamacia!

    You have to understand, we get a lot of people come through here acting as if they run 20% of the offshore oil industry offering the world and it turns out they have a business in a back shed run with their parents 😀

    The issue I am talking about has a jacket in tow, is that the one you are looking at? It is the first structure of the BSJ (Black Sea Joint) project. We towed these out and then set them in about 70 m of water. The VideoRays worked well on this because we had to be under the mud mat of the jacket as it came down. The rig operator was in a hurry so it left me only 1m between the bottom of the jacket and the mud by the time it stopped its descent. At the time I was about 11m under the structure in a 2 knot current.

    I don’t run 20% of the off shore business and I am not a mom and pop, but I am happy to say that response to my posting has been exceptional and I actually can not take any more candidates at this time. I am however expanding so "watch this space"
