I wouldn’t view it so much an exodus. More a matter of the usual ebb & flow of personnel at this time of the year (UK sector). A few people leaving SS7/Acergy comprise a very small percentage of their work force and will not impact their bottom line in the slightest.

Yes, people move looking for better pay & conditions, but no company is any worse off for this than any other in general terms. It’s just that some put up rates before others and then the rest play catch up… later it may be the company that was last to increase rates one year is the first to do so next time around and people move to them.

Whilst it may seem to be wishful thinking by some that there will be nobody left at SS7/Acergy by the end of the week, the reality is totally different. Other companies are also seeing people leave and join. Often the only element that is highlighted in forums such as this is… people leaving!

You don’t often see much chat about people joining a particular company because there is no story in that.

SS7 always seem to have been a punch bag since I joined the industry, why, I do not know. Pay always seems to have been the biggest gripe since I have been with SS7 i.e. very poor Africa allowance, although pay seems below the industry standard other benefits compensate i.e. pension/salary sacrifice, also, I very rarely get stranded waiting for a relief before I can go home if it does happen chances are it is down to the individual who has let me down rather than SS7. For cmpassionate issues they have always stepped up to the mark in all cases I am aware of.

Yes, we can all do with extra money, as offshore personnel we are poorly paid looking at the technical knowledge needed for this job but looking at the whole package are Oceaneering/Technip/Sonsub that much better?
