Ray,

I would also recommend the VideoRay for a multitude of reasons. For the things you are talking about looking for (bodies, evidence etc…) a sonar and or positioning system are essential. While I’ve used the Sea Sprite from Tri-Tech (for some reason that is the name it has in the States) to actually map the inside of a ship hull, a multi-beam sonar is the most ideal. Charlie Foll of Atlantas Marine would be more than willing to show you the various ROV’s he has. He is also putting on a gathering of folks next week. I’m actually travelling from the States to attend it. You can find all of the info on the Atlantas Marine website. At the event you’ll actually be able to "test drive" all of their ROV’s with all the attachments, sonar, manipulators etc… So if you can come out to it I would recommend it.

The VideoRay also has several service centers around the world. Atlantas Marine and Buccaneer Marine are the two located in the UK.

Pricing is something your going to have to get from a dealer for an accurate estimate. Looking at GSA.com (it’s a US government website for government agencies to purchase just about anything) the entry model VideoRay is just under $6K and the Pro3 GTO is $27.5K.

Cheers,
Chief
