I was wondering if there’s anyone here who has taken any of the ROV Pilot/Tech courses who would consider parting with their course manuals. I would prefer CD’s but I will take anything I can get. PM me I’m willing to pay for them and the shipping. I live in Canada.

I have a strong mechanical background (millwright) and I was an electronic tech before that. I’m looking for anything that will help me fill in some of the gaps and learn some of the terminology.

I’ve found this forum to be a huge help to me. I want to thank all those who take the time to respond especially in this rookie forum.

    Cheers,

Sorry to hijack the thread, but which one are you after, mohawk number?

ah, I was hoping there might be a generic one – I wanted to do a bit of investigation. I tried sub-atlantic a while ago for a commanche manual and they seemed reluctant to provide.

any vehicle will do, I was really more interested in the power distribution/transformer side on the vehicle and some of the maintenance procedures for thrusters, etc.

Hi Savante, with regards to the thruster maintenance just ensure you have some spare winding and a lot of shaft seals. Oh also ensure that the thruster drawings are right as we had a draft set and the drawing showed to put the shaft seal on with the metal lip spring exposed to the water instead of the opposite way where it would of been bathed in oil. Should of been easy to understand but the "I WANT IT BY THE BOOK" supervisor didnt grasp it until we flooded 4 or 5 thrusters. I will check I believe I have a mohawk manual somewhere.

Ya, it’s Alba. It’s always about standing out in the crowd. I’m thinking about using it as a title page for my CV. What do you think?

So does anyone have some manuals they wouldn’t mind parting with?

    Hi BCGUY

Welcome to the forum and thanks for an unique avatar! (Yes, it is correct English, a, before a vowel (A, E, I, O or U) becomes an. Even hotel does, as in an hotel.)

Unfortunately most ROV manuals are company proprietary and giving them out can cause problems as most ROV employees have a company confidentiality agreement.

This is why most requests for these documents go unanswered.

The only manual I have for sharing is from the Schilling Quest ROV (only the part of the ringthruster is missing).
Schilling manipulator manuals can be downloaded here.

Thanks for the welcome and for the English lesson though I feel as though I missed something.

As I stated in my original post I’m looking for ROV pilot/tech course manuals not specific ROV manuals. Am I not correct in thinking anyone who takes one of the many courses out there would be given some sort of manual? This has been the case for every course or program I have taken in the past.

    Cheers,

You will find the training course material (as with most ROV system manuals) are copyright and it would be illegal to forward copies.
