Im looking for electric 1/4-1/3 hp thrusters ,anything is off interest. But i think some that operates on highvoltage (100-150V) is most suitable since it will be less loss in the cable.

A side question ,does most off the thrusters on sale today need a external H-bridge ? or is it integrated inside off them allready ?

Jonzen

Try these links:

US-based companies:
www.tecnadyne.com (DC brushless, various voltages available)
www.deepseasystems.com (DC brushless)

UK-based companies:
www.sub-atlantic.co.uk (DC brushless, also AC, plus control boards)
www.seaeye.com (DC brushless)
www.submertec.co.uk (DC brushless)

Control electronics integrated into thrusters.

Deep Sea System makes great straight drive motors.
I did not like Tecnadyne too much. We were running a high speed/torque application and saw catastrophic failures from couplings, shafts, and gear boxes. We were in the 10 - 20hp range. My Tecnadyne experiences were 3 years ago. They might have those problems solved by now.

In reference to H-bridge....are we talking about rectification? If so, DSSI's motor controllers have it internally. They offer analog, digital, and serial control.

We've run our appications off of 350 VDC and 240 VAC with great success. Most problems were operator error. We've seen some of these thruster go over 4000 hours (hard core, gritty subsea action) without failure.

I've heard good reviews of sub-atlantic thrusters. We're eyeballing them for a similar, low hp, project.

Good luck. Let us know what you go with; and, how it turns out.

Thank you . I have just sent a mails asking for price on thrusters. Thought most of the suplyers seems not to have as small thrusters as we are looking for(a constant problem=( ). So plz post if any other know of vendors/manufactorers of small thrusters. Ill post more of our plans when we know what for sure that we get money for our project.

In a nutshell we thinking of a remotecontrolled Pc104 running labview as a the core component controlling the thrusters.Body will be cylinder like perhaps with some small wings.
