Anyone know anything about GMSL refusing to pay contractors their full , agreed day rate? Contractors worked through SubservPro. I'm just after the whole story as I turned down a job with them recently due to their low rates and am wondering if I should avoid both companies in the future?

If contractors are no good then should they get their full rate until changed out at the earliest opportunity?

How can a whole team be deemed 'no good'?

Who screens contractors at GMSL and what are they looking for?!

Shouldn't the agency pay the contractors then fight it out with their client for themselves?

What protection does a contractor have in this siutuation?

I have my own answers but it would be interesting to hear other views and opinions.

Stay Safe & Merry Christmas

I would be very interested in hearing from anyone who has knowledge of this "team" that were not suitable and not paid. If a contractor is deemed unsuitable for any Client including GMSL , we arrange travel home and ALWAYS pay our contractors for work the work they have completed.
From Celia MD of Subservpro.

So, according to views on other threads and the greed of the companies, the process of inexperienced crews getting shown the door starts... YES - a whole crew could get run off!!!!!
I got your economic downturn right here!!!

This is all just gossip and hearsay. If you are aware of someone who was not paid the correct rate then please state who it was. If we paid a contractor less than what was agreed, we would be in breach of contract.

Yes, these forums are full of gossip and hearsay, that's partly what a forum is for Smile

I've recently received further details regarding this job confirming that someone went offshore in one position but was payed for a lower position throughout.

This person was unable to get a timesheet signed onboard and they also had no written/ signed contract with their agency. Attempts to retrieve their money were fruitless. I will not name anyone involved in a public forum or otherwise, it would be up to them to reveal themselves should they wish to do so. I do know that they will not use this agency or work for that company again.

Individuals can draw their own conclusions from this tale.

Stay Safe & Merry Christmas to all whether at home or offhsore

Exactly as I thought this allegation cannot be substantiated because it clearly untrue.

If SubservPro were in the habit of misleading contractors or paying them incorrectly I would have expected there would have been more interest in this then there actually has been!

Is this thread ended here or are you guys (on the team that got runoff) going to retort??

However, those making unfounded allegations also need to take care before they also quote them on an open public forum. Your allegations are heresay, the Agencys are direct from their mouth.

"they also had no written/ signed contract with their agency."

So they were not out there working for the alleged Agency then? They cant have been unless they had a contract. The conclusions I draw are that there is more to the story than as clear cut as you alledge.

There normally is with gossip and hearsay.

I worked on the commissioning and mobilisation for this job and feel K2 has overheard a lot private conversations and then rearranged them to suit himself.
I am not aware of anyone having timesheets refused or being paid £80 less a day than agreed.
Maybe some other ex workers can testify to this?
I'm all for a free press but there is also the issue of ex-crew from this project being ignored for future work by Subserv, should they feel they have been unduely critisized on this forum.
This is a small enough community without rogue or unwanted Spokesmen to be airing their inaccurate views in public.
My message to K2 is keep your nose out of other peoples business.
Merry Christmas to All.

I refuse to be drawn into a bun-fight over this. Gramatically speaking, I didn't make any accusations but was merely asking questions to seek the full story. If anyone has taken offence then I apologise as this was not my intention.

Without further information and only having half the tale it is difficult to draw any conclusion.

As for the contract - how many guys actually go offshore in possession of a contract signed by themselves and their agency? I think you'd be very surprised.

Hm

Your post illuminates things from a different angle, thanks. Although your personal thoughts are incorrect regarding my information everyone is entitled to their own opinion and as I've just said, my post was not intended to offend.

I doubt, very much, that any company or agency would be so narrow minded that they would red-card any one because of comments posted in public forums. More like they would do this based upon an individuals's performance offshore.

As contractors wouldn't you say that this is our business, to seek the truth about such situations thus avoiding potential pitfalls during our careers? Check out other posts on similar matters.

It is indeed common practice for agency people to head offshore and work a job without a signed contract. I have done so many times myself. Many agencies will send out paperwork in .pdf format detailing the terms of the job and rates of pay etc. I believe a verbal agreement to those terms would be deemed as a contract being in force.

I feel that K2 has done nothing wrong in asking about what he initially heard, and later received information, on the very topic he started.
If he's heard something why shouldn't he ask? We do this all the time with other topics but when it comes to pay and conditions is it supposed to be off the agenda? I feel not.

It is odd that it appears outwardly, due to denials from interested parties, that nothing K2 mentioned did happen and yet where did the idea come from? I doubt if K2 created it just to start a thread, so I would suggest that there is most likely something odd that went on to trigger this.

To date, an agency representative has responded but nobody else has come forward with concrete information in support of K2 queries, so they may prove to be wholly unfounded. I feel that if anything like this comes to light is perfectly fair to ask in this forum and add to the post what ever information made the OP ask the question in the first place.

If there is a problem along these lines then it is our business to know about it. K2 was correct to ask so please don't presume to suggest who's business it is as, when it comes to business, it may affect us all.
