I have looked at the FAQ's for rookies. The best place in the UK i have found seems to be in Fleetwood at the offshore survival center. This covers all aspects including Norway (OLF). Has anyone done this course or know of a better one in the UK? Also which medical course do i need to complete and who should it be accreditted by?

You can also do it at Nutec in Aberdeen or RGIT Montrose also in ABerdeen.

Medicals dont have to be done by these places, a lot of industriaql doctors also do them (e.g. Abermed who have offices in different cities)

Was recently told by South Tyneside College, South Shields, that they no longer do the Norwegian qualification in survival courses. The alternative centre in the North East is Nutec in Teeside www.nutecuk.com

I use Fleetwood. They are good and the cheapest. I also used Warsash in the past which are the best but more expensive. If you're ex-mob then you will know most of the stuff so I'd go for Fleetwood. If you are green then I'd say go for Warsash.

As for medicals there is a distinction between the ENG1, OGUK, OLF standard and OLF petroleum shelf. Check with the company you work for to make sure you get the right medical.
