From our long running poll this year, which asked how many days people put in during 2007, it seems that the overwhelming result is (so far):
So if you are looking at getting into the ROV game... once you are established, look for days away as above.
The figures don't take into account the state of the industry this year but 2007 wasn't a bad year by any means.

If you fall into that bracket you're probably right.
That's way too many days away IMHO, but then that life style works for some.... so I'm not going to knock it. Horses for courses as they say.

Are you expecting to be offshore all that time each year?
If so that'll work out around 244 days a year (ish).
Even time is a fair contract. Companies may try to get people to do more to suit the current shortage of manpower, but that should only come with increased income in your favour not theirs.
If you don't like the idea get out of the contract.

Oufa, are you Egyptian?
If you are not, you are getting screwed.
If you are, it may be the going rate in Egypt.
Whichever, Fugro will probably still bill you out to the client at close to full rates.

Yes man.....I am Egyptian, but still i think this is a very low salary i am offerd, compared to other Oil & Gas servise companies here in Egypt.
What about the 3 weeks to 1 week.....does this has to do anything with being an egyptian too????

Egypt or not, on a global scale it isn't the industry average time on/off period.
So in that respect it's not good either.

As James said "Egyptian or not" depends on you. So, if you know there are betters chances in Oil & Gas services companys in Egypt, why do you accept such a contract?
Fugro Egypt have some hard time getting ROV people for Egyptian jobs because of the sh..... conditions they "offer" on that job. Maybe you can make them start to consider better contracts/conditions.
Remeber it will always depends on you, you have the final word.......
Cheers

It does seem a little steep on the time away to time at home ratio. However; if you are wanting to get into the ROV game then it may be your easiest route. Do a year then try and move onto another company I do know of one Egyptian Pilot who managed this and last I heard he was doing ok.
The problem you are going to have is that the rates for Egyptian Pilots from FUGRO Misr will be based on an Egyptian cost of living and lifestyle the same as why there are thousand of Philipino deck hand around the world working for what many see as very little.
It is your choice at the end of the day take the contract and gain experience and then move on or try another position with another company in the oil and gas industry if you feel you will get a better deal.
I do remeber a lot of the Egyptian guys having hassle with Sapesco(prior to FUGRO Misr) over rates and conditions when I was down there and they either put up with it or left.
Either way good luck.
