Dont forget for all the PAYE guys with agencies there are insurance overheads. Accounts departments to deal with the PAYROLL and expenses. Then there are the office overheads to cover the cost of paying the various staff in the office and at the end of the day they are a business and as such exist to make money.
They also on occassion take the hit for hire cars, flights etc and may wait a long while to get the money back.
It is all well and good when the market is buoyant and over a hundred guys are out on jobs but how do they make the money through the quiet times when only a few guys are out.
This may sound sympathetic to the agency but I am just trying to balance out the argument a bit.
Business' cost money to run the bigger the business the higher the overhead. The more successful the better the christmas present(thanks for the bag and tshirt UKPS).

Jim,
It was so much easier in the past - long for those days. I think you can remember when there were times of an office (say an ROV company office & workshop) having a skeleton crew 6 - 12 people all up and conducting business with 10 ++ systems with full offshore crew complements. That was profitable tho' long days!
