Someone is relieved and rubbing their hands with glee. Quite a coup.

Is there any quotable source for this nugget?

Personally I would think Centurion Qx (Quasar like) if new purchases were in order or anything by SMD if it comes to that.

Its a big order and that means big discounts. Cost will be the biggest factor. Perry, SMD and others will have to get competitive for the initial order, spares and support. Petrobras and the Brazilian drill support market is massive and set to grow rapidly. For S7 the prefered vendor, will be the cheapest.

By what has been mentioned on the thread, it sounds like "how-much-for-nothing" is a deciding factor?
Do you think there is more than short sighted frugalness or politics at play here?

Subsea7 buys some new subs.. Fookin Whoopee Rolling Eyes

Did anyone mention the crew of cheap ass n*****s and flipflops they gonna employ to run them ? Low pay and shit sandwiches all round.. No thanks.. I'd rather work with a 15 year old sub and get paid well for my knowledge and ability... SS7... wonder who will be the last white fella out the door ?

So it sounds like there is no pen-to-paper on an actual order?
They're just feeling pompus, kicking tires to get the most from some poor sucker 'vendor'.
With that attitude, I'd suggest they consider a rubber duckie from the toy-shop and a roll of string.
