Norson Services has successfully carried out the work for the deepwater project which involved ROV-operated flooding and pigging a total of 15 three to 12-inch subsea flowlines between 4 and 9 km (2.5 to 5.6 miles) long at a water depth of 550 m (1,970 ft).
Norson used its Remote Flooding Module and Subsea Hydrotest pump technology to carry out the work, on behalf of Chevron and main sub-contractor Subsea 7.
“The benefit of our remote system is that it is ROV friendly and removes the need for connection to a surface vessel, thus saving substantial costs and time,” said Les Graves, director of Norson’s pipeline division.
