Acquisitions/Mergers: Subsea network extended in Alvheim area offshore Norway

TRONDHEIM, Norway – Det norske oljeselskap has brought online the second oil well at its Bøyla field in the Norwegian North Sea. It is tied back to the Alvheim FPSO via a 28-km (17.4-mi) pipeline. Bøyla is under development via subsea facilities comprising two horizontal producer wells and one water injector. The first producer came onstream – the second well initially flowed 18,000 b/d, but output from the two wells should eventually settle at around 20,000 b/d.

The semisubmersible Transocean Winner is drilling the wells, with Technip responsible for the subsea installation under an engineering, procurement, construction, and installation contract.

Det norske estimates recoverable reserves of Bøyla at around 23 MMboe.

On Wednesday, the Nymo-built Boa extension manifold was installed on the seafloor as part of the Alvheim increased oil recovery project. Production here is expected to start up next spring.

For this campaign three new wells are being drilled on the East Kameleon, Kneler, and Boa Kam North accumulations. East Kameleon’s well was completed this spring while the Kneler well is currently drilling, to be followed directly by the Boa Kam North well.

The manifold will be tied-in to the existing subsea equipment serving the Boa reservoir. Here too Technip is handling the installations.

Det norkse and its partners have also decided to develop Viper and Kobra in the Alvheim license with two wells during 2016.

Both will be tied in to the Alvheim FPSO through a new template linked to the infrastructure at Volund. Subsea 7 is responsible for the tie-ins.
