North Sea operator EnQuest has launched a new incident management tool aimed at improving safety on the UK continental shelf.
The system, which combines software by DNV GL and Kelvin Top-Set, was designed to make it easier for offshore workers to investigate and report incidents.
Now the system could be rolled out to other companies across the North Sea.
“More than 100 people in our offshore and onshore teams have already been trained in the system and the feedback has been extremely positive,” said EnQuest health and safety advisor Barry Quinn.
“We’ve also had a lot of interest from other operators, particularly from those in the Norwegian sector, who are keen to see the work we have done.”
The tool uses investigation software by Kelvin Top-Set with the Synergi Life system created by DNV GL to categorise and record incidents.
“It is also time and cost effective because it removes the need to manually cross-reference or transfer information from one system to another,” said Mr Quinn.
DNV GL are now looking at ways to roll the system out to other operators in the North Sea and beyond.
“I am sure that many other organisations in the oil and gas sector anywhere in the world will be interested in this best-practice collaboration,” said the firm’s Paul Stanfield.
