AUVSI Make Monday a priority at AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems North America 2012!


Did you know that AUVSI’s Unmanned Systems North America 2012 is kicking off on Monday, 6 August 2012 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center?
Be sure to arrive in Las Vegas early so you don’t miss our fantastic line-up of workshops, panel sessions and technical presentations scheduled for Monday afternoon beginning at 1300. With 13 dedicated sessions, our Monday program will cover a variety of important issues appealing to a broad range of interests including UAS lifecycle management, emerging USV and UUV technologies, airspace integration research and updates, recent advances in ground robotics, UAS training and much more. We will have sessions running all afternoon followed by an evening reception allowing attendees the opportunity to network and prepare for the best conference yet.



Featured Monday Workshops

Synergizing Human with Unmanned: Global Perspectives and Solutions Workshop
Date and Time: Monday, 6 August, 1300-1730
This workshop will disseminate results and lessons learned associated with several human factors research efforts, many of which were related to a NATO Research Task Group. The session will bring together tri-service as well as international representatives from the research and operational communities around the world to present technical demonstration results and to review progress in this critical area. This unique and interactive workshop will feature human factors experts from the United States, Germany, Canada, Portugal, France the Netherlands and Israel.
The workshop will be divided into four, one-hour sessions covering the following topics:
• The challenges of controlling UAS, both near and long-term
• Emerging operator interface technology development
• Live, interactive technology demos
• Open discussion with panelists, technology developers, systems operators and the audience
Public Safety UAS Information & Education Workshop
Date and Time: Monday, 6 August, 13:00 -17:30
On February, 14 2012, President Obama signed the FAA Modernization and Reform Act into law, which included important provisions on the integration of UAS into the national airspace system. These provisions will drastically impact the ability of local, state and federal public safety agencies to deploy unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The Public Safety UAS Information and Education Workshop will focus on helping law enforcement and other safety officials learn about developing a UAS program from experienced professionals with expertise in public safety UAS operations. Discussion topics will include an overview of UAS technologies, logistics, funding availability, FAA & FCC policy and guidance, training and more. Public safety professionals from around the country will be on hand to provide insight from their own UAS experiences, as well as to engage with the public safety community and UAS industry during this important afternoon workshop.

From Test & Evaluation to Sustainment: The Importance of UAS Lifecycle Management
Date and Time: Monday, 6 August, 15:30 -17:00
UAS lifecycle management has never been more vital. From initial design to long-term system maintenance, the U.S. DoD is focused on developing and sustaining its UAS fleet with longevity in mind. This panel session features T&E, maintenance, and systems sustainment experts from the military and industry discussing the importance of lifecycle management to ensure our UAS assets remain relevant and ready for deployment.
Developing Interoperable Services with the UAS Control Segment Architecture
Date and Time: Monday, 6 August, 15:30 -17:00
In this session, experts in the development and application of the UAS Control Segment architecture will lead a workshop on developing interoperable software services within the UCS Architecture. This workshop will include a walkthrough of key components of the architecture, along with deep dives into existing services. A basic tutorial for development will also be presented. At the end of this session, participants should be familiar enough with the UCS Architecture to begin developing basic capabilities and services, and will have the appropriate pointers to further information.
