Rapidly growing marine consent and survey consultancy EMU Limited (EMU) has announced the appointment of a new Principal Consultant to head its expanding marine policy team.
Justine Saunders, who has more than 14 years experience with the sustainable development of the marine environment, joined EMU this month to focus on the organisation's marine planning and policy objectives.
"As part of EMU's managed expansion and to ensure it offers most value to clients, the company aims to be at the forefront of informing and helping to shape marine policy based on our experience in implementing it," Ms Saunders said.
Her most recent work involved project managing a study to prepare Business as Usual Scenarios for the marine environment under the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, and prior to that she project managed a study to scope a valuation framework for The Crown Estate's marine interests.
"I look forward to gathering together existing expertise within EMU to assist with the delivery of new conservation objectives in the UK and Europe and progress the development of offshore renewable energy projects," she said.
Her work with EMU will also include the improvement of tools to assess human welfare impacts from policy changes in the marine environment and the refinement of future development scenarios to inform marine planning.
