Nexans Norway has won a contract to supply 78 km of subsea fibre optic cable to Huawei for the BDM project.
The BDM project will complete a cable system between Melaka, Malaysia and Dumai & Batam, to deliver a powerful boost to the broadband network in Malaysia and Indonesia.
The Nexans cable will be 8-fibre single-armoured, and will be manufactured at Nexans' factory in Rognan in Norway's Nordland county for delivery this month.
"This is a strategically important contract for us in this market", says Nexans Norway Sales Manager, Merethe Kværner Ulsrød. "Our customer Huawei has a strong footing in Asia and we are proud that they want us on their team", she says.
