IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA), today announced the launch of a brand new website that enables users of IEEE standards and volunteer participants to engage with the organization in a more rich and meaningful way. In addition, IEEE-SA is introducing its Standards Insight Blog, which provides a fresh new gateway to exchange ideas, best practices and latest innovations about global standards.
IEEE standards users and participants around the world who interested in getting involved with IEEE-SA can access a wealth of information on standards development activities and programs for product lifecycle management by visiting the new website at http://standards.ieee.org.
As a global facilitator for standards development, a key goal of the IEEE-SA was to make it easier for people to interact with the organization. The redesign represents the first phase in an ongoing effort to strategically extend the IEEE-SA on the web and social channels, and compliments the Association's active presence on Facebook and Twitter, as well as the new "Standards Insight" Blog.
"With thousands of projects, standards and interrelated working groups, it was an exciting challenge to rethink the way we viewed and organized vast amounts of valuable information. We also wanted to make it more inviting and interactive for visitors and volunteers who use our site," said Karen McCabe, Staff Director, Strategic Marketing and Product Development who oversaw the redesign project.
The new IEEE-SA website will:
• Create an easy to follow alignment of Standards, Projects and Working Groups
• Make it easier to find and communicate with Working Groups
• Make it easier to find Standards, view status and link to purchasing options
• Facilitate cross-linkage to related content
• Improve the ability for people to engage in the Standards Development Lifecycle
• Better explain and engage people in the Standards Development Lifecycle
• Elevate IEEE-SA Product Offerings and Standards Development Programs
• Showcase the contributions of IEEE-SA volunteer participants
In future phases, the site will feature "Innovation Spaces" that highlight emerging areas of standards development. IEEE-SA also plans to even better integrate social functions, that facilitate interconnectivity and interaction between IEEE-SA and the volunteer community.
