Posted on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 @ 11:00:00 GMT by Rons_ROV_Links

Perry Slingsby contract awarded for Triton XLR ROV systemPerry Slingsby Systems (PSS) has contracted with Taiwan Ocean Research Institute of National Applied Research Laboratories (TORI) for the supply of a Triton XLR ROV system modified to meet TORI's specific requirements.

The contract includes the supply a 3,000m rated Triton XLR system which will be equipped with ICE® net controls, a specific package of high-specification exploration and research sensors as well as a very high payload capability to support the TORI provided scientific tool sled.

PSS, now part of Forum Energy Technologies (FET) based in Houston Texas, will provide interface and installation services from its Asia Pacific base in Singapore. As part of the integrated supply contract, PSS will also provide a comprehensive training program for the TORI engineers and scientists.

Bruce Lokay, Asia Pacific regional director said: "This is a very significant contract for PSS as it represents the second deepwater research ROV system sold into the Asia Pacific region in just six months. Our recent success in crossing over from our more familiar markets of oil & gas and telecoms into the scientific and research markets clearly demonstrates the overall versatility of the Triton XLR as a excellent platform for multiple types of operations.'

FET is a Houston based global provider of manufactured and applied products to the energy industry with approximately $700 million in annual revenues and about 2,000 employees worldwide.

FET is comprised of two operating divisions: the Drilling & Subsea Division and the Production & Infrastructure Division. Among the manufactured products provided by FET are drilling equipment and spare parts, industrial valves and flow control equipment, subsea remotely operated vehicles, surface production process equipment and pipeline equipment.

The Drilling and Subsea Division offers a comprehensive range of ancillary remote intervention products and tooling systems as well as operational services such as training programmes, offshore personnel recruitment, equipment rentals, management and servicing, geosciences project management and data analysis, seabed geotechnical coring as well as software products and services in physics based simulation and 3D visualization, digital video editing and data management applications.

PSS offers a range of control system based products and systems with complementary services. Products include the widest range of market leading electric and hydraulic ROVs for inspection, survey and light intervention applications, through to deepwater heavy construction.
