On March 30, 2010 the Office of Naval Research (ONR) awarded BlueView Technologies, Inc. a contract to deliver five (5) custom MicroBathymetry sonar systems with 90 degrees field-of-view. The ultra-high resolution 3D sonar will provide critical gap fill and target identification capabilities for US Navy unmanned underwater vehicles.
The project specifications called for high-resolution 3D sonar with expanded field-of-view that delivers laser-like imagery despite water clarity levels. The new BlueView sonar is an adaptation of the highly popular MB2250-45 MicroBathymetry Sonar and promises to yield new commercial grade units.
Jamie Griffith, Navy Sales Manager for BlueView Technologies stated: "We are extremely proud to have been selected by the ONR to fulfill this important need. BlueView has a deep history of providing leading edge sonar technology to the US Navy and will continue to do so in the future."
BlueView s advances in ultra-high resolution 3D imaging sonar technology will provide the US Navy with detailed 3D imagery of underwater sites, structures and objects, even in low and zero visibility conditions. As the leading provider of underwater vision Light rays bend when they enter from one medium to another of different density. The amount of bending is determined by the refractive indices of the two media. If one medium has a particular curved shape, it functions as a lens. solutions worldwide, BlueView Technologies advanced imaging sonar are currently deployed around the world on AUVs, ROVs, boats, tripods and multiple fixed position platforms.
