Offshore Marine supplies guard vessels for major European projectsSubsea cable specialists, Offshore Marine Management (OMM) has supplied guard vessels for some of Europe's largest subsea cable projects and sees the business as a natural fit with its portfolio of cabling and personnel activities.

The company supplied TenneT BV with a guard vessel and management services for the NorNed HVDC interconnector cable repair.

The Bounty 2 from Rederij Groen was on site throughout the de-burial, repair and re-burial operations, supporting three separate vessels for each phase.

The German marine authority (BSH) stipulated that the repair required a guard vessel due to its proximity to the TSS Terschelling traffic separation zone.

TenneT BV said that OMM's services, procedures and deliverables were exemplary and that the Bounty 2 was completely professional and pro-active in her performance and duties in this challenging location.

OMM also continues to supply five guard vessels to Transpower for the Borwin1 export cable project, which has required guard vessel supply since July 2009. OMM provided a maximum of 15 guard vessels with full management services at the height of the project last year.

OMM Managing Director, Rob Grimmond said that safety, particularly accident prevention, is a major priority with all offshore developments and it was important that clients could be sure of the professionalism and quality of guard vessels, and that they are manned by crew with relevant industry experience.
