Day rates for construction vessels are expected to fall by up to 15% from 2009, with a build-up in global supply, according to ODS-Petrodata’s Product Manager of CVBase, Shaun Heywood.
Around 10 newbuilds scheduled for deliveries in 2009 have been pushed to 2010, he said.
A similar trend will prevail in the subsea sector, where Heywood sees a steeper decline of 10% to 15% in rates for diving support vessel (DSV) and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
The construction vessel specialist estimates a 21% growth in the global fleet of DSVs and 35% for ROVs since 2008.
