Global Industries has become the ninth International Contractor Member (ICO) of the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). Other ICOs - a membership category established in 1996 - are Acergy, Allseas, Heerema Marine Contractors, Helix Energy Solutions Group, J Ray McDermott, Saipem, Subsea 7 and Technip.
"Our ICO member companies are involved with IMCA on a world-wide basis, supporting all aspects of the association's work and with representation on IMCA's Council, which provides political direction and support for the Association," explains Hugh Williams, Chief Executive of IMCA, which has over 650 member companies in more than 50 countries.
"We are pleased to welcome Global Industries as an ICO. As a leading solutions provider of offshore construction, engineering, project management and support services including pipeline construction, platform installation and removal, deepwater/SURF installations, IRM and diving to the oil and gas industry worldwide, they 'tick all the boxes' as does their commitment to IMCA and I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Jim Doré, Senior Vice President of Global Industries, for his extremely useful support and contribution on a number of key issues. We are looking forward to an ever-closer working relationship with him and his team.
"Prior to this and stretching back many years, Global Industries was a Contractor member of the Association, with companies active in our Middle East & India and Asia-Pacific sections, especially in the IMCA Diving Division. More recently they joined IMCA's North America Section in the Marine Division and, immediately prior to becoming an ICO, extended their membership to each of our regional sections in each relevant division. Kris Chambers, Global's Saturation Systems Manager based in Sharjah, is now the elected Vice-Chairman of our Middle East & India Section, further demonstrating the company's support for the association."
"I'm delighted to have brought my company to ICO membership of IMCA. IMCA offers companies like ours the opportunity to develop a consistent and safe standard in every area of the globe where we deploy our people and equipment. I look forward to working with the Association in its effort to foster safe and efficient marine operations worldwide," said Jim Doré.
Membership of IMCA is available to offshore, marine and underwater engineering companies. In addition to ICO membership, there are separate categories for contractor, supplier, training establishment, personnel agency and non-voting corresponding (oil companies, governmental and regulatory bodies) members (membership is not open to private individuals). Each member joins one or more of IMCA's four divisions (Diving, Marine, Offshore Survey, Remote Systems & ROV) according to its own areas of operation and gains access to the core world-wide activities of IMCA and to the relevant regional section - there are five: Asia-Pacific, Central & South America, Europe & Africa, Middle East & India, and North America.
