CodaOctopus Products shares innovations at Edinburgh ConferenceThis year's Coasts, Marine Structures and Breakwaters Conference at the International Conference Centre (EICC) in Edinburgh, will include a technical paper co-written by CodaOctopus Products and Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors. CodaOctopus will also have a technical exhibition stand.

The annual Breakwaters Conference is organised by the Institute of Civil Engineers and it addresses the design, performance, installation and maintenance of breakwaters, sea walls, jetties, piers and beach control structures. The conference also covers the latest material in the design and installation of structures for extracting marine and wind energy around near shore seas and coasts.

Integral to the event is the technical exhibition showcasing skills and products. CodaOctopus can be found on stand 18 where there will be details and impressive images of recent underwater projects around the globe in which the Coda Echoscope 3D real-time sonar has played a unique role. Delegates can learn about these diverse projects, the specific challenges and extraordinary accomplishments; these will be illustrated with a wealth of sample data and 3D movies.

The technical paper was selected from over 210 abstracts submitted for the conference. Entitled "Innovative Technique for Single Layer Armour Unit Placement: An Example of Increased Production Efficiency Whilst Improving Health and Safety", the paper describes the breakwater armouring work at the newly-expanded LNG terminal at Ras Laffan, Qatar. Co-written by Stephen Auld (CodaOctopus) and Peter van Geldere (Van Oord), the presentation includes examples, photographs, statistics, comparisons, software screenshots and data which demonstrate the advantages brought to the project by the Coda Echoscope 3D real-time sonar.

The paper will be presented before lunch on Thursday, 17th September (Stream C - Breakwaters). It features amongst a full programme offering the latest research and most up-to-date case studies in coasts, marine structures and breakwaters and an electronic copy of the papers is available to all conference delegates in advance, to encourage informed discussion during the event. A printed copy of the conference proceedings will also be provided to registered delegates.
