Nautronix drives focus on wireless controls with a new Global Product Manager - Wireless ControlsNautronix has today announced the appointment of Dr Andrew Jaffrey as Global Product Manager - Wireless Controls. The role will focus on developing the success of the company's expanding wireless controls technology which utilises acoustic signalling for subsea communication, control and monitoring applications, providing a highly reliable and effective alternative to umbilicals.

Dr Jaffrey has been with Nautronix for over 4 years, initially as Engineering Manager before holding the position of Technology and Development Manager. This change in role follows the identification of significant opportunities for the company through its wireless control technology.

Managing Director, Mark Patterson said: "With Nautronix continual focus and commitment to research and development Andrew has recently been involved in a FEED study with Cameron's Drilling Systems division in Houston for the world's first acoustic multiplex control system for subsea Blowout Preventers. We have been delighted to see this system, called NASMUX, receive a large amount of industry interest, winning a prestigious Offshore Technology Conference Spotlight on New Technology Award at the event earlier this month. As a result we feel the time is right to have a dedicated Global Product Manager for this area of our business".

Mr Patterson added: "I anticipate that the opportunities for our wireless control technology have the potential to generate £30m revenue for us in the next 5 years. Combined with the continued success of NASNet on projects such as Cascade / Chinook in the Gulf of Mexico we are confident we can continue to increase our revenue and market share over the coming years."

Speaking of his new role Dr Jaffrey commented: "There are numerous operations where the targeted use of acoustics for the control and monitoring of subsea equipment would result in operational and financial benefits. We have the technology to be able to support these applications but the key is for companies to have the vision to address old problems in new ways and to identify completely new scenarios. I look forward to developing our product line, and to working with our potential customers to develop this innovative side of our business".

Dr Jaffrey will continue to be located at Nautronix headquarters in Aberdeen.
