Hydrographic survey and diving equipment specialists Unique System LLC (USA) has taken delivery of a major consignment of Compatt 5 subsea positioning transponders from Sonardyne Inc. The order compliments Unique's existing worldwide inventory of Sonardyne acoustic equipment which includes RovNav 5 Long BaseLine transceivers and Ranger Ultra-Short BaseLine systems. These systems incorporate Sonardyne's advanced Wideband signal technology which is recognised as the optimum subsea positioning technology for deep water survey and construction operations.
Unique System is part of the Unique Group based in Sharjah, UAE, which is a major distributor and rental company for advanced marine and diving equipment. The Compatt 5 equipment will be made available to rent from their additional US office in Houston which opened a year ago to support clients and offshore projects throughout the Gulf of Mexico.
Commenting on the benefits available from their new stock of Sonardyne transponders, Unique System CEO, Arjun Ramchandani, said, "Compatt 5s are configurable to meet any subsea positioning requirement our customers' may have from template installation and pipeline survey through to DP reference and high accuracy metrology. The Wideband technology inside them has proven itself to be an adaptable and reliable platform enabling different subsea tasks to be conducted simultaneously. This brings greater efficiencies and ultimately lower costs for field operators."
The company's sales director, Vaughan Reddick, added to this by saying, "The benefits of establishing a major rental stock here in Houston are clear. Compatt 5 is the trusted workhorse of the survey industry and is in high demand here in the Gulf. This latest investment in Sonardyne Wideband technology means that we will now be able to meet this demand with equipment that is available to rent off-the-shelf."
Sonardyne Inc. is based in Houston and is part of the Sonardyne group of companies whose headquarters are in Yateley, Hampshire, UK.
