Subsea Telecom News: SBSS Cableship Fu Hai commences the Asia America Gateway Cable Network installat

S.B. Submarine Systems Co. Ltd. (SBSS) has been awarded the contract for the installation of the Asian portion of a transpacific cable project, the "Asia America Gateway" (AAG), by NEC Corporation, a leading supplier of the world's most advanced network systems.
The AAG system, of which the total submarine cable length exceeds 20,000km, will span the Pacific Ocean from Southeast Asia to the West Coast of the United States via Hong Kong, Philippines, Guam and Hawaii. SBSS will undertake the installation of over 2,700km cable for Segment 1i, between Hong Kong and BU4 (toward Singapore) and Segment 2, between Hong Kong and Philippine. The installation will start in middle September 2008 and plans to be completed in early December 2008.
The SBSS Cable Ship Fu Hai
is loading cable in Kita Kyushu, Japan and will then transit to La Union, Philippines for the start of the installation of Segment 2 on 20th September.
This award of AAG project is another significant milestone for SBSS as the leading company in the cable installation in the Asia Pacific region.
