Darwinvest Submarine Logistics performs aquaduct inspections quickly with VideoRay GTODarwinvest Logistica Submarina (Submarine Logistics), an organization located in Ecuador's largest city, Guayaquil, recently expanded their offerings in the field of underwater inspection and observation to include long range aquaduct inspection. Darwinvest has used the VideoRay ROV for several years for a variety of underwater applications including fascinating work with rare marine life in the Galapagos. Previously their new client, Interagua (which is a local branch of the international public water giant of the same name), utilized crawler and hydrophone technology to inspect the long aquaducts for leaks.

Darwinvest was called in with their small inspection class ROV, the VideoRay Pro 3 GTO, and proceeded to outperform all of the previously mentioned solutions. It took all of 6 minutes to quickly and efficiently inspect one 135 m (405 ft.) section of the aquaduct for leaks. Authorities were pleased with the GTO inspection speed for one main reason, keeping the cities fresh water supply flowing. When Interagua wishes to perform a leak inspection, it must notify the public that it must cut the freshwater supply for a certain amount of time and suppliment it with fresh water brought in by trucks. Needless to say, the faster the inspection can be performed, the faster Interagua can restore freshwater service to the public. A normal inspection takes about four hours while this particular inspection by Darwinvest took just an hour's time of aquaduct water from the public.

Jean-Thomas Bujard of Darwinvest, who owns two VideoRay systems and represents VideoRay in Ecuador, was pleased with the performance of the VideoRay and as always offered valuable product feedback. Bujard anticipates much more business in this particular application.
