ROV NEWS: SMD awarded contract by China Shipbuilding (CSOC)

SMD are pleased to announce the award of a contract from China Shipbuilding and Offshore International Co Ltd (CSOC) for the supply of a Work Class ROV. SMD will supply their popular 100HP Quasar WROV configured for object detection and recovery, facilities maintenance, salvage and other engineering supporting work.
SMD Sales Director, Mike Jones, commented "We are delighted with this contract award. This will be the third ROV system we have supplied to China and it maintains our leadership in this marketplace. We will be working closely with our Chinese representative, Bluewhale, to build key parts of the system in China."
The SMD Quasar is an agile and compact Work Class ROV with a 250kg payload suitable for deepwater survey, construction and drill support. It is part of the comprehensive range of SMD Q-series Work Class ROVs. SMD currently has commitments for 6 Quasar Systems within the oil & gas, scientific and military markets, with further orders anticipated soon.
