CTC Marine to start working at Angel gas project soonNorway's DeepOcean ASA subsidiary CTC Marine Projects Ltd. is expected to start work this month on subsea components for Woodside Petroleum's recently installed Angel platform.

CTC Marine will install a 51-kilometer (32-mile) power cable linking the existing North Rankin A platform with the normally unmanned Angel platform. Three umbilicals will also be installed to connect the Angel platform to adjacent subsea trees.

The Angel platform will be tied to three subsea satellite wells. The platform will be capable of processing 800 MMcf/d of gas. Gas will be exported via a 49-kilometre (30-mile), 30-inch pipeline tied into the North West Shelf first trunkline and commingled with production from North Rankin Alpha (NRA) platform for onshore processing.

Woodside Petroleum expects the subsea installation to be complete in time for first gas to flow in the third quarter of this year.

Woodside Energy Ltd. operates the Angel gas project on behalf of five other equal sharing partners of the North West Shelf Venture, which includes BP Developments Australia Pty Ltd., Japan Australia LNG (MIMI) Pty Ltd., BHP Billiton Petroleum (NWS) Pty Ltd., Chevron Texaco Australia Pty Ltd.and Shell Development (Australia) Pty Ltd.
