A major accolade has been awarded to The Engineering Business (EB). Last night (6 December) they were presented with the NOF Company of the Year Award at the NOF Energy Annual Dinner at historic Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield, in North East England.
"This has been a quite exceptional year for our company, and this recognition by our peers is truly the icing on the cake," says Dr Tony Trapp the managing director of the Riding Mill, Northumberland-based company. "This is an award won by every one of our 150-strong team. Their dedication, talent and enthusiasm is the very lifeblood of our company."
"A huge order book has brought us an unprecedented amount of new work on a number of key offshore oil and gas-related projects for delivery in 2008 and 2009. 2007 will certainly go down as the year in which EB made a major step-change."
EB is currently designing and constructing four major systems that will in due course see them delivering some 4,500 tonnes of new equipment - a considerable achievement for a company that was set up by Dr Tony Trapp and three colleagues ten years ago and just five years ago employed around 30 people.
These new contracts have brought expansion on a number of fronts and, as a result EB has been actively recruiting. They now have 150 people working at the company - predominantly graduate professional engineers. And, they now operate from three Tyneside sites; their headquarters at Broomhaugh House in Riding Mill, Stocksfield Hall, a new office for 75 people just two miles away from their HQ, and Hadrian Riverside where they lease 65,000ft2 of workshop with large cranes, large doors and direct access to the Tyne for the shipping of large items.
