Olympic Triton delivered by Ulstein VerftThe MPSV vessel Olympic Triton was delivered from Ulstein Verft Thursday 25th October. After the name giving ceremony 26th October the ship will be put into service in the North Sea.

The Olympic Triton, an ULSTEIN P101 vessel, is yard number 278 from Ulstein Verft. The yard has delivered two similar ships earlier. Because of the positive feedback on those ships, Olympic chose a similar vessel, but further developed into a larger version. "Our newbuilding is specially adapted for underwater operations, and thus it is essential that the ship has steady motion," says CEO Stig Remøy of Olympic Shipping.

Large accommodations
The ship is 95 metres long and 20.5 metres wide and is equipped with an ROV hangar, moonpool, a 150-tonne offshore crane, helideck and accommodations for 100 persons for its underwater operations. The ship is also prepared for a tower and a 150-tonne A-frame on the stern. The permanent crew numbers about 20 persons. It is the second ship of the ULSTEIN P101 design delivered by the yard. Olympic also has a sister ship under construction at Ulstein.

Three-year contract
"Canyon Offshore in Aberdeen has chartered the ship on a three-year contract. Her first assignment will be a small job in the North Sea before heading for the US section of the Gulf of Mexico. There the ship will operate until next summer," says Remøy.

Ahead of time
"The project team and the other employees have done an excellent job, and the ship was delivered before the contract date. It is a job worthy of respect and one we are proud of. We also wish to thank Olympic for the good cooperation and wish the Olympic Triton good fortune on her voyages," says CEO Karsten Sævik of Ulstein Verft.
