Travel: New UK-Norway flights

New UK-Norway flightsBritish-based airline Eastern Airways is planning to increase the number of flights it offers between the North Sea oil capitals Aberdeen and Stavanger in response to oil and gas industry demand.

Eastern, a regional division of British Airways, is planning to step up the number of Aberdeen-Stavanger flights from two to three per day starting on 22 October.

Flights between Aberdeen and Stavanger started on 13 August and from 22 October, the service will be augmented by a third daily flight using a 50-seat Saab 200 aircraft.

Weekday services will start departing Aberdeen at 0700, 12.25 and 17.20, landing at Stavanger’s Sola airport at 09.10, 16.40 and 19.30 local time.

Saab 2000From Stavanger, the flights will depart at 09.40, 1640 and 1955, arriving in Aberdeen at 09.50, 16.50 and 20.05.

A return fare from Aberdeen to Stavanger on 22 October, departing Aberdeen at 07.00 and returning at 19.55 from Stavanger is currently being quoted by Eastern at £259.10p.

Also Eastern is planning a new Sunday service between the two cities which is to start operating from 28 October.

Graeme Ross director of Easter Airways in Scotland said the new service was being provided in response to customer demand, particularly from the energy industry.
