Maltese vessel examines shipwreck of Titanic's sister ship

A Maltese underwater exploration vessel, U-Boat Navigator, has been used to explore the wreck of the Britannic, the sister ship of the Titanic, which sank during the First World War after hitting a mine off Greece.

U-Boat Navigator, equipped with the C-Explorer 5 submersible, ROV (Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle) and other cutting edge equipment, served as a base vessel for the 10 day mission during which high quality underwater video footage was shot for an upcoming documentary. 


Aberdeen Oil And Gas Firm Makes New Discovery

Aberdeen oil and gas explorer Parkmead Group announced a new discovery.  It said it had found a new gas field in the Netherlands which it expects will feed into existing production infrastructure in the area.

As a 365-pound remotely operated vehicle was being deployed from the deck of the Nancy Foster, a group of curious onlookers showed up from the deep blue.

“Oh, look, dolphins,” Ensign Felicia Drummond exclaimed in delight to Jeff Shoup, commanding officer of the NOAA coastal research ship.

Eight Atlantic spotted dolphins were swimming around the bright yellow, alien-looking creature that had just entered their water playground in the Dry Tortugas, the most remote part of the Florida Keys.


BP Welcomes Report on Women in Engineering

BP has welcomed the findings of a national report which shows that Britain needs to more than double its engineering graduates and attract many more women into the profession.

The report, supported by BP, and produced by the Institute of Public Policy Research- This link opens in a new window, shows that an additional 87,000 graduate-level engineers are needed  every year, until 2020.


Eni Secures New Offshore Blocks (Egypt)

Eni was the successful bidder of new exploration licenses in Egypt as a result of the competitive 2013 EGAS bid round. The new licenses will be formally awarded soon, after the ratification and finalization of the Concession Agreements.
