Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah died early on Friday and his brother Salman became king, the royal court in the world's top oil exporter and birthplace of Islam said in a statement carried by state television.


Panama Canal Preps for LNG Carriers

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) signed a cooperation agreement with the Port of Lake Charles in Louisiana earlier this week, which aims to attract new customers from the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry to soon to be the expanded Canal.

Currently, LNG vessels cannot transit through the waterway due to their beam dimensions, which are too wide to fit the existing locks.

The agreement will promote cooperation in marketing activities, information exchange, market research, training and technology, among other initiatives that will benefit both the Canal and the Port of Lake Charles.




No Sign of MH370 After 14000 sq km Seabed Covered

 The search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has now covered more than 14,000 square kilometres of the seafloor, according to Australia Transportation Safety Bureau latest report.


ROV pilot on E/V Nautilus shares underwater discoveries

“How did you spend your summer vacation?” ROV pilot Buzz Scott asked an eighth grade science class at Blue Hill Consolidated School. “This is how I spent mine.”

Scott had served on the E/V Nautilus, a 64-meter research vessel stationed on the Mesoamerican Reef, alongside their teacher Nell Herrmann, exploring the ocean depths through the photos and data sent back on board by two remotely operated vehicles or ROVs. Herrmann’s role was to narrate for online audiences what the camera lens showed to viewers.

Indian Navy to deploy ROV from Reliance

The Indian Navy has sought the assistance of Reliance Industries in undertaking underwater videography of TRV 72, the torpedo recovery vessel that sank about 38 nautical miles off Visakhapatnam coast on November 6, by deploying a Remotely Operated Vessel (ROV) on Tuesday.

It will undertake underwater videography of sunken TRV 72. He was addressing the media on board INS Jalashwa, about 20 nautical miles of Visakhapatnam coast, during a ‘Day at Sea’ programme organised by the ENC, as part of its upcoming Navy Day celebrations.


Red7Marine Offshore expands ROV flee

Red7Marine Offshore has expanded its subsea services to North Sea clients by investing in a fleet of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).

The eight observation class ROVs add a new strand to the widening portfolio of  solutions offered by the offshore and subsea contractor. The investment – part of a £25 million investment in equipment this year - also secures more skilled jobs at its Great Yarmouth base. It is the only fleet based in and operating from the East of England providing a complete range of turnkey subsea services.
