GC Rieber Shipping has signed a two year contract for its second subsea newbuild with the Mexican company Oceanografia. The vessel, which will be named Polar Queen, has recently been handed over from the Spanish shipyard Freire Shipyard, and the contract will start up in November. Three of the four vessels in the Company's newbuilding program are thus delivered and all of them are on hire. "With the whole fleet engaged, we are very well positioned going forward," says Irene Waage Basili, CEO of the company.
Australia's Minister for Defense Stephen Smith and Minister for Defense Materiel Jason Clare have announced that the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) will lease the subsea operations vessel Windermere from Hallin Marine, a Superior Energy Services company, to reinforce the RAN's amphibious capability during the Australian region cyclone season which commences in November.
Van Oord's new flexible fallpipe vessel, the Stornes, was christened on 24 September. The event, which was attended by hundreds of guests and Van Oord employees, took place at the Wilhelmina dock in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The christening ceremony was performed by Mrs J. van Vonno, wife of former Supervisory Director W. van Vonno.
Hallin Marine, a Superior Energy Services company, announces further expansion to its fleet of offshore support vessels. The Kendal, a multipurpose subsea vessel, with both ROV and Air Diving capability installed departs for her first project with PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) in Indonesia, this coming Saturday after the naming ceremony. PHE ONWJ, as her first customer, has engaged the vessel for a 3 month IRM campaign in North Java. For this work, the vessel has been equipped with two TMS inspection class ROV's and is supported by the project team from the Hallin office in Jakarta.
