Saft has developed a range of Ag-Zn, primary lithium and Li-ion cells for demanding applications in the hostile subsea environment, where safety and reliability are crucial to the success of scientific scientific and industrial missions.

Saft has started development on medium to low rate applications (pure electric vehicles), with particular emphasis on. Oceanography research vehicles' need for multi-kWh capacity. Saft's UUV solutions are appropriate to this application.

Saft also proposes non-rechargeable and rechargeable batteries for the other equipment equipment in the related infrastructure, such as emergency and security systems and UPS equipment.

Benthos Announces Fourth Quarter and Fiscal 2003 Results

BENTHOS, INC. (NASDAQ: BTHS) today reported financial results for the fourth quarter and the fiscal year ended September 30, 2003. Net sales for the quarter were $3,847,000, an increase of 17.5% over sales of $3,275,000 in the fourth quarter of the previous fiscal year. Net income for the quarter was $822,000, or $0.59 per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $3,292,000, or ($2.32) per share, in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2002. Net income for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2003 includes a pre-tax gain of $2,208,000, realized as a result of the Company's sale of some of its real estate holdings in North Falmouth.


Oil rigs help biologists unlock mystery of ocean life

"We just recently discovered a very large shark in the Gulf of Mexico in about 10,000 feet of water. It was the first ever observed in the Gulf," Allen said. "We want to get feedback from people offshore as to what they are seeing when and where."

Russia to raise sunken nuke sub

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia will raise a sunken nuclear submarine from the floor of the Barents Sea to clear an Arctic sea lane and busy fishing area, Interfax has reported.
The Russian news agency on Friday quoted an unidentified official at navy headquarters as saying the sunken sub would be raised in 2005.
