CONTRACT AWARDS

Bibby Offshore's Houston-based division, Bibby Subsea (the "Company"), has signed a three year contract with Bordelon Marine to charter a new vessel. The Brandon Bordelon (photo) is an ultra-light intervention vessel (ULIV) and will commence a three year charter in August 2015 primarily operating in the Gulf of Mexico. The addition of the Brandon Bordelon to Bibby Offshore's existing international fleet of specialized vessels enhances the capability throughout the Americas region.

 Phoenix International Phoenix International recently completed an upgrade of the U.S. Navy’s 8,000-foot depth capable remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Deep Drone.

 
All work was performed under a multi-year contract with the U.S. Navy’s Office of Supervisor of Salvage and Diving (SUPSALV). The upgrade included installing a new umbilical, sonar, high definition camera, LED lighting system, an updated frame, and a new foam pack. In addition, and at the heart of the upgrade, Phoenix installed a completely new Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) based vehicle control system.

Greek liquefied petroleum has (LPG) shipping company Stealthgas has agreed on the sale and leaseback of one of its vessels, and five new charter arrangements for its LPG carriers.

 

Stealthgas entered into a sale and leaseback agreement for the 7,517 cbm, 2001-built LPG carrier Gas Cathar in the fourth quarter of 2014. The proceeds from the sale of the vessel are USD 14.3 million. Stealthgas will bareboat charter back the vessel for four years.

Ennsub has completed the design and manufacture of two innovative workclass remotely operated vehicle (WROV) deployment systems which have been designed and manufactured for ROVOP and are due to be installed into a new build, tier one pipelay vessel early in 2015.

A number of senior figures from the oil and gas industry were given an insight into Ennsub’s DEEP 4000 system recently before visiting its new Teesside premises.

 Deep Down, Inc. (OTCQX: DPDW) ("Deep Down"), an oilfield services company specializing in complex deepwater and ultra-deepwater oil production distribution system support services announced today it has received a large order for flying leads and ancillary equipment directly from one of the supermajor operators.  The flying leads will be delivered and deployed in the Gulf of Mexico by the first quarter of 2016.

MARINE/VESSEL NEWS

One of the tugs holding the stricken cargo ship Hoegh Osaka in the Solent has crashed into the vessel.

The tug moved from its position during high winds and collided with the ship on Saturday afternoon. No-one was injured but the tug was damaged and had to be replaced. The salvage operation was hampered on Saturday because of poor weather conditions but the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) said salvors had since managed to board the ship. The Svitzer salvage team is said to be refining its plans because further high winds are predicted. The MCA said salvors were now intending to start work on the ship's ballast before pumping the 3,000 tonnes of water out of the vessel. A spokeswoman said: "Yesterday, weather conditions prevented any activity on the vessel other than to connect the third tug.

“How did you spend your summer vacation?” ROV pilot Buzz Scott asked an eighth grade science class at Blue Hill Consolidated School. “This is how I spent mine.”

Scott had served on the E/V Nautilus, a 64-meter research vessel stationed on the Mesoamerican Reef, alongside their teacher Nell Herrmann, exploring the ocean depths through the photos and data sent back on board by two remotely operated vehicles or ROVs. Herrmann’s role was to narrate for online audiences what the camera lens showed to viewers.
