Malampaya - Shell PhilippinesOperator Shell and its partners in the Philippines Malampaya gas project have opted to extend the asset maintenance work for the field through until 2009 with Amec.

The UK based contractor has been the asset maintenance agent since the combined deepwater gas and onshore power project came onstream in 2000.

Amec’s three-year workscope under the extended contract covers operational support for the Malampaya deepwater platform off Palawan island in the Philippines, plus the gas plant at Batangas near Manila, and a 500 km (310 mile) pipeline linking the platform and gas plant.

Maintenance management, shutdown and turnarounds plus any project engineering, supervision, provision of personnel and plant services will be handled by Amec under the extended deal, along with procurement, logistics and transport.
