Marathon Oil Corp. looked set to start refining “at capacity” on Monday, saying all seven of its Gulf of Mexico coastal refineries, including the 245,000-barrel-a-day Garyville, Louisiana site, were being brought online.
With normal operations about to be declared by its pipeline business, Marathon also gave its nod to a government loan of 1.5 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
In the GoM, teams boarding Marathon platforms at South Pass and Ewing Bank remarked on two types of hurricane damage: minor and major.
At Ewing Bank, pipes, catwalks and electrical gear were damaged.
At South Pass, platforms have structural damage “throughout two of the three facilities”.
To repair lives, the oil company offered interest-free loans of $10,000 to its 650-strong, area workforce.
