Sepro Technology AS has been awarded a contract by Seabed AS for supplying Sepro's Active Heave Compensated (AHC) winch technology & ROV launch and recovery system for a 5.000 meter Work Class ROV.
The scope of supply combines Sepro's unique AHC winch technology together with Sepro's new DPL A-frame and integrated control system. Sepro`s winch technology open up exciting possibilities for active heave compensated winch systems for ROV and subsea operations. The technology is utilizing low speed permanent-magnet motors, often called torque motors. Torque motor drives give significantly better performance and improved reliability in such applications in comparison to conventional asynchronous electrical drives or hydraulic systems. The system delivery from Sepro gains many operational and performance benefits for Seabed AS.
The first system-delivery will take place in May 2012. The contract covers an option for one identical system to be delivered later in 2012.
Seabed AS represents a combination of long experience and ultra modern equipment for deep-sea operations worldwide. The company provides high quality services within Inspection, Maintenance & Repair, Survey and Construction Support and Subsea Decommissioning. In addition Seabed has expertise and special equipment for deep sea cargo recovery.
This contract represents an important step forward for Sepro's newly developed AHC winch technology and supports Sepro's position as a leading supplier of high quality and innovative ROV handling systems. Sepro Technology has during the last 20 years delivered more than 100 ROV handling systems to clients worldwide, and the majority of these systems are still in daily operations.
