Curvetech Upgrade for Van Oord ROV
Date: Thursday, May 19, 2005 @ 13:25:55 EDT

SMD Hydrovision are pleased to confirm the recent completion of the upgrade of Van Oord's Rock Dump ROV III as part of a major refurbishment of their vessel MV Tertnes.

The work included a new Curvetech DVECs control system, intelligent valve packs and a large amount of other related equipment such as bespoke junction boxes, fibre optic mulitplexer and new instrumentation.

The DVECs control system was selected by the client for its simple, configurable user interface.  This uses touchscreen controllers and a flat screen PC with a bespoke pilot display.  The client also liked the distributed control which reduces harnessing and does not need a subsea PC.  This ultimately means a simpler and more reliable system.

The control and hydraulics were installed by an SMDH team to a very tight window during the ships refurbishment in Rotterdam.  Following commissioning the system has already completed work on the Goldeneye field and is now working on the prestigious and technically demanding Ormen Lange Development.
