Specialist Subsea Services (S³), provider of ROV and survey services to the international energy industry, has announced the acquisition of geoscience consultancy Caledonian Geotech as part of its strategic growth plans.
Caledonian Geotech, based in Dundee and formed in 1980, provides services including the practical application of geology, land and marine geophysics, hydrography, engineering and oceanography to onshore and nearshore development and maintenance projects.
Its operations complement the ROV, survey, geotechnical and data management services of S³, headquartered in Aberdeen and with operations at international energy industry hubs.
S³'s Managing Director, Graeme Kidd, commented: "With the ever expanding near shore engineering and construction market, in particular the renewable energy sector, Caledonian Geotech is well positioned to provide extensive support services to operators and contractors alike. I am delighted to welcome the team to the S³ family where they will complement our existing offshore subsea services, which now cover the entire water column from 0m to 3000m. We plan to continue to develop our UK presence and build on work we have carried out internationally, with Mediterranean and West Africa being the main focus of the year ahead."
Caledonian Geotech's founder, Richard Robinson commented: "I am very pleased that the name and reputation of Caledonian Geotech will be carried forward by the team at S³ and that both myself and Mary McMurtrie, the Company Manager, will continue to support the development of the company going into the future."
