The experiences gained from using 6G subsea positioning technology for a year will be presented by Sonardyne during a packed event schedule at this year's Ocean Business exhibition and survey conference. The show being held in early April in Southampton, UK, will mark twelve months since Sonardyne raised the bar for acoustic positioning, inertial navigation and wireless communications with the launch of its 6G hardware platform and Wideband 2 acoustic signal technology. Since then, 6G has been deployed on a variety of different offshore projects around the world and visitors to Sonardyne's stand (E1) will be able to review its performance. Prospective users will be able to identify projects akin to their own and discuss the merits of specifying 6G with the company's Survey Support Group who will be on-hand to share their insight.
For those wanting a more hands-on view of 6G and Wideband 2, Sonardyne's research vessel Sound Surveyor will be docked at the show where it will be hosting practical demonstrations of acoustic positioning and telemetry technology. Sound Surveyor will also be demonstrating the company's aided inertial navigation system Lodestar which will be configured to show its benefits for DVL, USBL and sparse LBL operations. To book your place onboard, drop by stand E1 and speak to one of the Sonardyne team.
Off the water, Sonardyne is scheduled to present the opening paper of the survey conference detailing Lodestar's evolution with real world data sets. Completing the learning experience, visitors will be able to attend daily technical workshops where they can raise and discuss issues relating to 6G and Wideband technology in general.
Sonardyne's involvement with Ocean Business 2011 is not solely confined to the academic and technical aspects of the industry as it is one of the exhibitors actively involved in the show's renowned social programme. Towards the close of day one, the company will be hosting a wine trail station where participants are invited to test their knowledge of wines from around the world with industry colleagues. Then on Wednesday, Sonardyne will be exclusively sponsoring the event that no-one wants to miss, the Ocean Business Gala Dinner which is being hosted for the first time at the Southampton Guildhall. As in previous years, the organisers promise a night to remember.
With preparations well underway for Ocean Business 2011, Sonardyne will be posting regular updates, including a vessel and classroom demonstration schedule, on its website and via Twitter (@sonardyne).
